Etymology
[In this word perhaps -reda is for earlier -rǽda, connected with ge-rǽdan, which is used of dressing the hair; in the same way Icel. greiða is used, and ull greiða = to card or comb wool, so that æf-reda might compare with ǽ-cambe.]
